Mr. Schnicke earned his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Cornerstone University in 1997. He earned a Master's Degree in Music Education from VanderCook College of Music in 2001 and also a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Cornerstone University in 2011. He was the Director of Bands and Choirs at Belding High School for 14 years. He then went to Portland Public Schools where he spent one and a half years as the Assistant Principal for the Middle School and High School and a half year as the Principal of Portland Middle School. Mr. Schnicke has been at Kent City since 2013. He is also the Director of Athletic Bands at Davenport University. He is married to Cathy and they have 4 amazing children (Isaac, Lauren, Julia, and Aaron).
Isaac is a 2018 Graduate from Kent City and is currently attending Western Michigan University to study Music Education . He has been a tuba performer for Legends Drum Corps and is currently under contract with Carolina Crown. Lauren is a 2020 graduate from Kent City High School and is attending Grand Valley State University where she is studying Music Education. Lauren has marched baritone for 3 years at Legends Drum Corps (2 for Bari/Euph and 1 as Assistant Conductor) and is currently contracted to be a Drum Major for Carolina Crown.
Mr. Schnicke began at Kent City Schools in 2013. He is also the Drama Director, Forensics Coach, and Quiz Bowl Coach for Kent City High School. He is also active in his church's worship teams. Mr. Schnicke also serves on as Vice President of the Board for Legends Performing Arts Association and is the President of the Board for the Michigan Competing Band Association. He is very excited to work with the students and parents of the band and choir program.
